*ePortal Radio - Feels Like I'm Home

I know that it is hard to listen to Pinoy music if you are outside the Philippines.  If you want to listen to our local artist you have to buy their CDs and play it over and over again. What if you want to listen to new songs and you don't have access where you can buy their new CDs?

I'm a kind of person who loves to listen to music but being here in the US, I missed listening to Filipino songs. For my kababayans here in the US and are feeling homesick hearing Pinoy songs can make us happy and get rid of homesickness. Aside from Filipino foods, Pinoy songs are also our trademarks of being Pinoy. The sounds, beats, rhyme, styles and stories in the songs make us relate into it.

The other day, I was listening to 93.9 iFM at e-Radio Portal. I turned up the volume because I like listening to pinoy music. My husband was asking me what kind of music I was listening to and he was amazed that I can listen to Pinoy music online.

While typing this post, I'm listening to it right now and they are playing most new songs now.

Hayy..its feels like I'm home right now.

Craving for Filipino Foods

Lately, I was craving for some simple Filipino foods. Every time I think of foods, I think of Tortang Talong, Sinigang, Ginataang Kalabasa, Monggo, Pritong isda, Adobong Kangkong at Arozcaldo with Pork and Tofu.

One day, it so happened that I don't like to eat any chicken at all.  We had 2 whole frozen chickens but we can't cook it because my husband knows that I will not eat it anyway.  He can have it all and I can have my own style foods (last time, I cooked some tuna from can and mixed it with cabbage and with rice), my husband doesn't like it because for him he can only eat it as tuna salad and tuna sandwich.

Last time, we went to Vons to buy some food and vegetables.  The first thing that I checked was if they have any eggplants and Tofu. I was so lucky that they have eggplants, okra and tofu and bought some.

I like tofu a lot but my husband don't like it. So it is all mine..hehehehe!

The other day, I cooked bean sprout with tofu and had it for lunch and dinner. Then my husband had his chicken sandwich and pizza.  Then this afternoon I cooked the eggplant with tofu. Wow, I ate a lot! I think my stomach was full.  It's been more than a year since I haven't had Adobong Talong with tofu. My husband had his beef pot roast. I like this food too but my taste buds like Adobong Talong. I still have some for dinner tonight.

Now, I'm craving for Pancit and Banana Q!

November or December Baby?

I had my home pregnancy test last Thursday and it was positive. Then I said that I'm going to test again this Sunday to see if the result.

Again, it is positive so we are expecting of a December Baby...

My husband just talked to his friend and was asking for a good OBGYN that she can refer to us. We are looking for a good doctor whose clinic is just half way from Riverside and Murrieta so that it will be less time for travel just in case we moved to our new place already.

Right now, I don't have much appetite to eat. I only had cereal for my breakfast, Oreo and banana for my lunch.  My husband promised me that he is going to cook me pasta for dinner tonight since I told him that I'm craving for some pasta.

We went to Vons and bought some food supply, good thing that they have eggplant and okra so I bought some. I was thinking to cook some Filipino food this week. I wanted to buy some fish but their fish were not fresh, so my husband just bought some frozen fish. I really want to eat some grilled Milkfish and Tilapia with some tomatoes on the side.

We are very happy for this great blessing. God is really great. Hope our baby will be healthy.

Riverside Air Show

My husband and I went to Riverside Air show last Saturday.  It was one of the major events here in Riverside and many people from neighboring cities came over to watch this event.  Last year, I heard that there were about 80,000 people who watched the event and this year about 92,000 people. We went there around 9:30am and had our portable chairs that we bought from Big Lots. When we arrived, there were already lots of people sitting on their own chairs and some are checking out some of the fighter planes that were on displays.

It was free admissions so most of people there bring their whole family for the special event.  Some kids have their own trolleys and some family brought their own foods.  The air shows was already started when we arrived, so we walked a bit to look for a good spot where we can set our portable chair.  We decided to stay near the stage so that we can hear the announcer.

We are all very excited to watch the C-17 plane and other old planes show their moves while there are up in the sky. There were also some marines walking around.

Am I Really Pregnant?

  • Mood:

12 days from now will be our first year wedding anniversary. After we got married, most of my family back home and friends were asking when we are going to have a baby. We didn't use any birth control so anytime I can get pregnant. We really hoping to have a baby after our first year of marriage because we are concentrating on 3 things - sell first this house then build a new house and manage the other vacation rental.  We know that it will be stressful usually if you are going back and forth to 3 places most of the time to check on it.

Last time, while we were still wondering why I'm not yet pregnant, we talked about kids.  My husband said that if we are not going to have a baby, maybe we can just adopt one or just be happy with our 2 dogs and live life to the fullest. Of course, we want to have kids of our own.

Then 2 weeks ago, I was expecting for my period. I thought any days from that time I'm going to have it.  I was not feeling well also that time. I don't have appetite to eat any kind of food.  Every time I see chicken, for me it is one of the nasty foods that I don't want to eat. I got sour stomach all the time. I felt cold in the afternoon even I had my blanket on.

Though my breast is swollen (one of the symptoms that I am gonna have my period), still no period yet. Then one day, while my husband was working in his garage I asked him what if I'm pregnant but I'm not sure yet. Maybe my period just delayed because of not feeling well lately.  He is eager to buy me a pregnancy test but I told him to wait for 5 days and if nothing really happens then we can get one.

The other day, he bought me a pregnancy test and asked me to try it. I tested while he was at Home Depot, the first thing he asked me when he arrived was the result. I didn't say anything; I just showed it to him.

What a feeling when I showed him the positive result and he asked me what the result mean? I told himt hat it is positive and means that we are going to have a baby.

But I'm not really convinced yet that is why I asked if I'm really pregnant. I still have one kit to use and I'm thinking to try it this Sunday and see if it will be positive again.

My husband and I are ready for it.

Ready to Sell this House Again

We tried to sell out house last quarter of 2007 but we are not able to make it.  We fired our former realtor not because he is old but because he is not optimistic with the real estate market value today.  We know that the value of real estate in Southern California is really bad but we don't want to be negative about it.  If we think we can't sell this house, then the outcome will be negative.

So my husband hired a new realtor, one of the best young realtors here in Riverside. He is very optimistic and very appreciative on things that my husband did with this historic bungalow. That's the kind of realtor we want to sell this house.  We value his thoughts on how to get buyer very fast.

Last night our new realtor came over to look again at our house and he was impressed with the improvement.  We planted new flowers in front of our house and it looks colorful now than before.  We also put out our new gazebo with new furniture patio.

We signed the paper and we listed it for $319,000. If we are going to walk out with $300K that would be fine for us because it is good enought to build our new house in Murrieta.

Our realtor will return next week to take pictures so we have to keep going and be busy here to prepare this house for "Open House" by April.

We can't wait to build our house in Murrieta because we know that this property will generate more revenue for us than our house here in Riverside. Some properties in Murrieta were selling for about $800k to $1.5M for 1-5 acres lot with houses. Once this house is finished, we plan to live for about 2-3 years then probably sell it and buy a new one.

Busy Moms Burn More Fat with Breakfast!

Busy Moms Burn More Fat with Breakfast!

By Holly Rigsby, CPT
FitYummyMummy.com

Breakfast is easily the most overlooked solution than all other fat burning tips combined.

Q: Breakfast.

I always eat breakfast but often don't get to it until about an hour or sometimes two (if I'm up early) after I get up. Is this OK or do I have to eat earlier than this? (I'm busy during the week getting the kids ready and off to school). What's the maximum amount of time I can go from waking to eating brekky?

A: Hooray! You are eating the most important meal of the day!

Many Busy Moms tend to skip this meal for a variety of reasons. However, doing so will only work against your body's ability to lose fat.

Skipping breakfast will only send the message to your body that you're starving - you haven't had food in the last 6-8 hours. This leads your body to SLOW your metabolism for survival purposes. You essentially are choosing to start your day in fat storage mode.

PLUS - if you do not start your day with a supportive breakfast, it is only natural that by the time lunch rolls around - You are STARVING. The best of intentions cannot overcome the cravings that accompany this feeling. Sure, you may start off your "lunch time" snack or meal with something you consider to be quite healthy. Yet, those nagging cravings do not go away and you are compelled to eat more.

To make matters worse, skipping breakfast also leads to eating more later in the day - a big "dinner". Eating more calories during the last meal of the day, when your metabolism is naturally slower during the second half of the day and slower because breakfast was skipped leads your body to store those calories as fat.

In fact, studies show that people who skip breakfast and eat fewer times during the day tend to be heavier than people who eat a healthy breakfast and eat four or five times a day. If you skip meals, you tend to feel hungrier later on and you will eat more than you normally would.

To get the Best Benefits of Breakfast - yes, eating within an hour of waking is best. Breakfast will provide you with the energy you need to get through your day. The more energy you have, the more active you’ll be and the more active you are, the more calories you burn.

Favorite Busy Mom Breakfast: Cereal is a MUST. It’s convenient, easy to prepare, easy to eat and full of nutrients – No…”Whole Grain Lucky Charm” does not fall into this category. Choose cereals carefully based on the information on the food label.

Top Breakfast Choices have:
~ 5 grams of Fiber or more
~ 8 grams of Sugar or LESS
~ Sugar is not listed as one of the first 4-5 ingredients.

SPAMMERS BEWARE!

I am getting lots of comments SPAMS lately.  Every time I checked my email I got 5-8 messages from Bravejournal message notification. How I wish Bravenet can do something about it.

Good thing that I set to review all the comments first before I posted it in my blog and if not my blog will be full of spams.  I go to my review pending notification and check first if the message is spam or not then I have the right to delete or approve it. The reason I also removed my Tag board is that I can't check it all the time for spam messages.  It is nice to have Tag Board so that your visitors can leave you a short message but it is better to be stress free than check and delete those spams in your Tag board all the time.

Spammers can leave messages in your chat box or tag board without you knowing it specially if you don't check your blog everyday.  Also it is better to review first all the comments to you from all users before you posted it in your blog because if you set your visitor's comments be posted automatically in your blog they can post spam messages in your blog all the time.

Aside from that, they posted messages with links and you don't know if those links got virus that could ruin your computer.
