With spring approaching, you must be itching to get your hands in the soil by now just like my husband. We went to nursery last week to buy 8 trays of flowers that we need to plant in front of our house. I like the idea of planting more plants and flowers in front of the house to make it look lively and inviting.
But before that, I spent 2 days removing all the weeds and small grass. During this time of the year, the weeds are all over the place and if you just let them grow it will hard for you to remove it or maintain your yard free of weeds.
It is nice to see the front yard full of color varying from yellow, pink, purple, white and red. Good thing that we are just near the nursery and we were able to save some bucks rather than to buy if from other store. But you can get more long-lasting satisfaction from starting seeds indoors for your spring garden.
You can purchase ready-made seed trays, but common household items are just as effective and an eco-friendly alternative. You can re-use your old plastic containers such as salad containers, vegetables containers or from take-out containers. They have a clear plastic lid which you can check the progress of your seeds.
Once they grow for about 5-6 inches you can transfer them on the soil and don't forget to water after you plant them.
